Carrier of the Mark - Review

Their love was meant to be.

When Megan Rosenberg moves to Ireland, everything in her life seems to fall into place. After growing up in America, she's surprised to find herself feeling at home in her new school. She connects with a group of friends, and she is instantly drawn to darkly handsome Adam DeRÍs.

But Megan is about to discover that her feelings for Adam are tied to a fate that was sealed long ago—and that the passion and power that brought them together could be their ultimate destruction.

Book Breakdown

This book felt very early YA. If you've read YA since it really took off then you know what I mean. Everything feels very... compact and rather lack on some of the details. It just has that young YA feel. I don't really know how else to describe it.

Then that brings in the Twilight vibes... the guy going against his family and being with the girl anyway... how possessive he is for her.... there's more but I don't want to spoilt the book. Then there is the insta-love. I mean in this one there is kind of a reason for it but still.... I hate insta-love so much. It's the only trope that drives me insane. So don't even ask me how I finished this book, but I did.

It does get better as it goes along but I can't help but like Rían better than Adam. I wish she'd chosen that brother.... anyway, that is just personal taste. I loved the Ireland setting, that's honestly the only reason I picked up this novel and I loved that part of it. I need to find more books set there as I just love Ireland so much, I hope to visit one day.

The character development is fine and dandy, just as good as any other book. The story is interesting enough and kept me reading, it was cool to see Irish folklore in a book for once. Overall, it's not a bad book just a fun average quick read.

  2. I love that cover art, but am not sure I would appreciate this novel. Instalove annoys me too!
