Music Monday - Back to My Roots

This meme is hosted over at Always Me

So today, I wanted to jump back into my roots a bit. I grew up in TN. I didn't live in Nashville but only like 10 minutes away. So I was there a lot. Nashville is pretty famous for a few things, spicy chicken wings, very laid back people, and music. Not just any music but country music.

My family is very country... not redneck or hick but we Southern It took a really rude guy telling me my accent offended him to open my eyes to it. Since then, I've been running away from my roots. Pushing anything country away from me. I even changed my accent.

But recently I've been wanting to get back to some of my roots, I mean Southern food is the best. I don't even care. Nothing beats biscuits and gravy. So I wanted to share a few songs from two artists that my parents used to play all the time while I was growing up.

It took me nearly 14 years to finally see that I should never have let what the pathetic boy get to me. You can't help what you're born into. Who cares what people think? Do what makes you happy, no matter what. You shouldn't be ashamed of who you are. Unless you like to run around kicking puppies then you are awful and just feel horrid about yourself.

Well, I hope you all have a wonderful week! Happy reading little butterflies.

  1. Agree with all your sentiments except for eating biscuits. What Americans call biscuits, we Brits call scones and they are best eaten with strawberry jam (jelly) and cream!!

  2. Totally agree! Although, I'm a Brit too and couldn't quite work out what biscuits and gravy would be like eaten together... just read Steph's comment above. Ok, scones, but with gravy? I love your music, just not quite sure I could eat that (I've probably misunderstood!) xoxo Happy reading!

  3. I grew up with this kind of music too and I loved hearing them again. :)
