50/50 Friday - Favorite/Least Favorite Short Story

50/50 Friday is hosted here on this blog and over at Blue Eye Books

What is 50/50 Friday?
Everyone has a favorite and then we also have something we dislike. Like a coin, there are two sides to every question. Example: best sequel you've read/worst sequel you've read. So that's what 50/50 Friday is all about. We will have a new topic every Friday (something bookish of course!). If you have have ideas for this meme don't be scared to let us know!

Topic for the Week
 Favorite/Least Favorite Short Story

I've a huge fan of horror short stories so I thought I would share some spooky horror stories with you today! Let's jump into it!

Favorite
The Doll
It's simple, straight-forward and I loved it anyway. It was just the perfect amount of creepy.

Least Favorite
Floor Four
The writing... every sentence was so choppy and I just couldn't enjoy it because of that.

Topic for Next Week
Favorite/ Least Favorite HP Novel

  1. I've read and reviewed The Doll by J. C. Martin too! I thought it was creepy too, but ultimately an overall medium for me.

Here's a link to my review of The Doll, if yo care to read it.

    1. A lot of reviews for The Doll say it's just kind of meh so I'm just weird. Nothing new lol

  2. I've not read either of those and even The Doll cover is creeping me out. I have this weird thing about thinking dolls' eyes are watching me!
Not sure it's my favourite, but the most memorable short story I read was Jack London's To Build A Fire. Bleak and beautiful.

    1. Yes! I agree. I love dolls. I collect a few of Monster High and those Living Dead Dolls but they can't be in my bedroom... I won't be able to sleep because I feel they're totally watching me. I'm so weird, I know lol.

I've never heard of that one but I'll be checking it out!

  3. I can't stand choppy writing either. I understand the author might be trying to impart some sort of stylistic atmospheric manipulation but it never really translates for me.

    1. Yes! Agreed, I totally get it if the author is going for something with that kind of writing, it's just not my cup of tea.
