Top Ten Tuesday - Books I've Lost Interest in Reading

Top Ten Tuesday is now hosted over at That Artsy Reader Girl

This used to happen to me all the time. People would hype books and I went out to buy those books and then never got around to reading them because they never really appealed to me.... I just did it because I thought I had too. So this list might step on some toes but hey, everyone is different and has different tastes. So just because it doesn't interest me, doesn't mean anything. If you love these books, that's great! I'm glad for you. I just don't want to read them.

10) Nevernight

9) The Lightning Thief

8) The Harry Potter Series
(This series I will still be reading as my partner won't stop bugging me about it)

7) Glass Sword

6) Truthwitch

5) A Darker Shade of Magic

4) Born at Midnight

3) Glitter

2) The Language of Thorns: Midnight Tales and Dangerous Magic

1) Pivot Point

  1. I've had The Lightning Thief on my to-read list for forever and I just can't find the motivation to pick it up. I"m sure I'll get to it at some point, but I definitely understand losing interest in it once all the hype dies down.

  2. I completely understand this post! There was a copy of The Girl On The Train in a book exchange a few weeks ago and I thought that I should pick it up because I am probably the only person who hasn't read it yet! But so much hype turns me off because it's almost impossible for any book to live up to the expectations.
I do love seeing the V E Schwab covers on other blogs. The artwork is very eyecatching, but I am not sure I will ever read the books!

  3. Ouch. Seeing a few favorites here, not even touching on Harry Potter, but glad someone will make you finish it! ;)

  4. You have some great series on here, but if you don`t enjoy them, there`s no point reading them. I did find the 5th book in the Harry Potter series a bit exhausting, but the next ones are great again.

  5. I do love the HP series, but I also grew up with them and I think sometimes if you didn't, it's harder to enjoy them. I've never really been interested in the Percy Jackson series though - a friend of mine loved them. I DO plan on finishing the Shades of Magic series as I read and loved the first one.

I'm not usually great with hyped books because I don't necessarily read things right away, so a lot of these were never really something I cared to check out like Truthwitch and Glass Sword, etc.

  6. I don't really care about Harry Potter anymore, I used to really want to read it, but now I'm like....maybe someday. But its definitely not a priority. I most definitely want to read Nevernight though! I read the Wings series by Aprilynne Pike and really liked it, and at one point I was determined to read all her books. But now I'm like eh.... I'm getting more into horror, reviving my love of vampire romance, etc. Who knows though....someday I might become a Harry Potter fanatic who has a signed copy of every Aprilynne Pike book :P
